If you’ve spent any time in spiritual corners of the internet, you likely heard how important it is to let go and trust the universe.
This can apply to the things you’ve asked for and are specifically trying to manifest.
It can also apply to your daily life. Constantly worrying about if things are going to work out and go your way can be exhausting.
But letting go can also be really fucking hard. Just because you want to, or you know you should, doesn’t mean you can just make it happen.
This is something I’ve personally struggled with, which is why I wanted to write this post.
This post is going to look at why it’s important to let go and give you six tips to help make it happen.
Why it’s important to let go
In terms of the Universe and the Law of Attraction, it’s important to let go because it better aligns you with your desired outcome.
When you’re attached to an outcome, you’re living in the energy of lack. This is attracting more lack.
So when you let go, you’re a lot closer to living in the energy of already having the thing or outcome you want. It takes you out of that place of wanting and moves you closer to having.
Additionally, letting go opens a shit ton of doors. Typically when people get attached to an outcome, we get attached to a lot more than just the outcome.
We often get attached to how things are going to play out. This limits us.
There’s a myriad of ways we can attract the things we want. But if we get so hung up on how it has to come to us, we’re closing down a lot of possible paths.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that the opportunities won’t be available to you. It’s just as likely that they will be, but you’ll be too closed off to see and accept it.
How to let go
Do something else
Letting go means your mind isn’t constantly focused on what you’ve asked for or what you want. If you’re struggling to do this, try occupying your mind with something else.
This could be another goal you’re trying to achieve, a hobby, creative project, or anything that fully occupies your mind. Ideally, these should be things you enjoy and that feel good to you.
Ultimately, if you’ve let something go, it means your mind is free to focus on other things.
This is a little bit of fake-it-til-you-make-it, but I’ve found this to be helpful when my brain is being really stubborn.
But I want to note, I’m not talking about repressing or faking feelings here. This is about training your mind to let go of the things you’ve asked for or are working for.
Do some meditations
Part of meditation is training your mind and helping you have more control over your thoughts.
It’s not about stopping thoughts you don’t want. Instead, it’s about recognizing when you’re brain has gone down a path that’s unhelpful and bringing your mind back to a place that is helpful.
It can also help with focus and concentration. All of this can help you recognize when you’re gripping too tightly and redirect.
Work with affirmations
Similar to meditations, affirmations can help you train your brain to let go. The right affirmations can help you live in the energy you’re trying to attract.
Or a the very least, it can get you in a place where you don’t feel like you have to grip so tight.
Affirmations like, “Everything always works out for me,” “I am prosperous,” or “I always get what I want,” can help retrain your brain to expect things to work out for you.
This may take some time, but the more you work with your affirmations, the more you’ll start to internalize them. And as you do, the easier it will be for you to let go.
This can work really well when paired with meditation.
Your meditation practice can help you recognize when your thoughts are unhelpful and your affirmations can give you something more helpful to refocus on.
Imagine different (successful) possibilities and work to be more open
Another way to train your brain to think more positively is to imagine all the different ways you can get what you want.
Like we touched on earlier, often times, if we’re struggling to let go, we’re also trying to control how and when what we want comes to us.
I believe this is ultimately closing our minds and limiting our options. Instead, challenge yourself to come up with the wide variety of ways things can work out for you.
I’ve found this helps me open up to the possibilities. And once I see all the ways I can get what I want, it’s easier to let go and allow the best option to find me.
Dig a little deeper
If the previous tips don’t help, you may want to dig a little deeper and see what’s really holding you back.
In my experience (both personal and through others), there’s typically something deeper at play in our psychology.
Is there a need to always be in control that needs to be addressed and explored? Is there some kind of perfectionism going on? Do you have limit beliefs around money, your career, your abilities, etc?
What’s a play is going to be different for everyone.
Consider a tarot reading
Tarot can be ideal for this type of situation.
The purpose of tarot isn’t to dictate your future. Rather, I believe tarot can be a powerful tool to help you tap into your own intuition and inner guidance.
This can help you write your own story and create a life that aligns with your soul. Readings can be structured to help you gain clarity and reduce the doubts and uncertainties that may creep into your mind.
All of this can make it a lot easier to let go and trust you’re on the right path.
If this is something you’re interested in, the Soul-Alignment Reading or the Life Guidance Reading would likely be the most helpful to you.
