Sometimes, it can be easy to think about soul alignment and living an aligned life as a goal. But the reality is, it’s actually something we have to repeatedly choose and cultivate on a regular basis.
Luckily, there are a handful of regular practices that can help us get in touch with our souls and make more soul-aligned choices.
What “regular” means to you is going to vary. It can be daily, weekly, monthly, or anywhere in between.
The idea is to give some of these practices a natural home in your life so you can continue to check in with yourself and your soul.
Here are six practices to help you with your soul alignment.
Meditation
It’s hard to hear your soul if your mind is busy. Meditation helps you calm your mind and get in touch with your body. This can play a key role in getting in touch with your soul.
If you’re new (or resistant) to meditation, it’s important to know that the goal isn’t about stopping or controlling your thoughts. It’s about focusing your mind and gaining awareness when your thoughts pull you off track.
Once you have that awareness, you have the power to slow your thoughts and redirect your mind.
I’m a fan of the Calm app, but YouTube also has some great meditations. For guided meditations, you can try Great Meditations or Mary Kate’s meditations. For meditation music, try Taos Winds Spirit Music.
Journaling
Journaling is a great way to get in touch with your soul. You can explore what’s feeling good to you, what isn’t, and explore any decisions you may have on your plate.
It’s especially helpful if you do this in a free-writing, stream-of-conscious style. You can pose any question, emotion, or situation you’d like to unpack, then allow yourself to write on the subject without stopping or filtering.
What comes out unfiltered is typically a clear message from your soul. Acting in a way that aligns with what you wrote is one way to better align your life.
Yoga/Walking/Gentle Exercise
Being grounded can go a long way in getting in touch with your soul and making soul-aligned choices. Meditation is one way to ground but gentle exercise is another.
Yoga, walking, or any other form of gentle exercise can help you gain body awareness and ground yourself in the moment. This makes it easier to quiet your mind and feel into any emotions you may be carrying.
Emotions are a big way that our souls communicate with us, so the ability to hear them and unpack them can help you move in a more soul-aligned direction.
Intense exercise can have it’s place, but the intensity can sometimes distract you from your thoughts and feelings, which is the opposite of what we want.
When it comes to a more grounding, soul-centered practice, slower movements that help you be present and get more in touch with yourself.
Under-scheduling
It can be really hard to hear your soul when you get caught up in the busyness of life.
Most of us were raised in a society that tells us to go, go, go! It tells us we have to overextend ourselves, work a certain amount of hours, or say yes every invite we receive.
But that often leads to a chaotic and exhausted life, which is definitely not aligned with our souls!
Under-scheduling, doing less, and saying no to things you don’t want to do creates more space and calm in your life.
This, in turn, makes it easier to get in touch with yourself and your soul.
Time in Nature
Another way to step back from the busyness of life is to spend regular time in nature. This is an opportunity to put your phone away and just be.
Time in nature is soothing, rejuvenating, and healing. Like under-scheduling, it also creates more space from the world and calm in your nervous system, which helps you connect with your soul.
Tarot
Tarot is a great practice to help you connect with your soul! You can do this on a daily basis by pulling a card every day, or you can do a spread for yourself from time to time.
All of the cards have basic meanings and unique imagery. Your soul can help you decide how to apply your reading to your life and what direction or choices you should make as a result.
And if you’d rather someone else read your cards, I can help with that! This can have a very similar effect! The messages that come up for you are meant for you, and it’s up to your soul and intuition to tell you how to apply them.
If you’re ready to live a more aligned life, I’m here to help!
A tarot reading can help you tap into your soul and uncover what you can do to live more soul-aligned life.
The tarot cards aren’t here to dictate your fate. I believe tarot can be a powerful tool to help you tap into your own intuition and inner guidance.
This can help you write your own story and create a life that aligns with your soul. This can reduce your daily frustrations, struggles, and anxieties, and prioritize the things that make you and your soul feel good.
