It may not always seem like it, but being highly sensitive is an incredible gift.
And while the world may not always value this gift, I have found but the more I lean into my sensitivity and strengthen my gifts, the happier and more empowered I am.
So today I want to give you five ways you can strengthen your highly sensitive gifts.

Get the rest you need
The importance of rest cannot be overstated! Highly Sensitive People naturally need more sleep and more rest than the average person. Without this, we’re more prone to oversimulation and overwhelm.
I personally found when I’m too tired or burned out, I can’t use my sensitivity as a strength. When I get this run down, I can’t sort through what I’m picking up in the world because I’m so overwhelmed.
Rest gives highly sensitive people the ability to filter through the sensory stimulation and information that’s coming their way. It gives us the ability to check in with ourselves, to hear ourselves, and to use this information in a positive and productive way.
This Is when being highly sensitive starts to feel like a super power!
Consider a meditation, breathwork, or yoga practice (or all three!)
Taking care of your nervous system can be incredibly valuable as a highly sensitive person. This also plays a vital role and helping you filter and process the information that you’re taking in.
Because of this, practices such as yoga, meditation, and breathwork can be really beneficial to highly sensitive people. These practices help calm the nervous system and prevent overwhelm, which makes it easier for you to tap into the strengths that come with being a highly sensitive person.
When your nervous system is calm, you can think more clearly and better explore what’s coming up for you and what it means.
These are also practices you can lean on when you do find yourself overwhelmed.
These practices also makes it a lot easier to get in touch with your intuition.
Highly Sensitive people are believed to have incredibly strong intuition. In fact, I think that’s one of the greatest strengths of being a highly sensitive person.
Adopting a yoga, meditation, or breathwork practice will help you slow your world down and allow you to better tap into your intuition more easily.

This site can provide you with additional tips and help you learn what has helped other highly sensitive people in the hopes that it might also help you.
Read tarot for yourself
This was such a surprise for me, but it has made a colossal difference in my highly sensitive life. Like we mentioned earlier, one of the greatest strengths of highly sensitive people is our intuition. Tarot is a wonderful way to build up this aspect of the highly sensitive experience.
That was largely how I got into tarot. I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to work on strengthening my intuition, and she directs me to tarot.
Now, if you’re new to this brand of tarot, I want to mention that tarot doesn’t have to be about predicting your future. It can be, but it doesn’t have to be.
Personally, my favorite ways to use tarot is to gain insights, clarity and empowerment. I prefer to use the cards to tell me how I can create the future I want, not what my future will be.
It helps me better understand on what I instinctively know and it helped me learn to trust my intuition on a day-to-day basis.
Part of the tarot journey is also understanding what your intuition is and why you should trust it. This not only helps you gain clarity with the cards, but it helps you understand and trust your intuition when you feel it pop up in real life.
I think a lot of us have been told not to trust our intuition because it’s “just a feeling.” Tarot has taught me that there’s actually more fact to intuition than we often realize.
Adding a regular tarot practice to your life can do a lot to strengthen this is valuable highly sensitive characteristic.
Get a tarot reading
If you don’t want to read your own cards, getting a tarot reading is another great way to strengthen your intuition.
My favorite thing about reading tarot for others is that it’s this magical place we’re both of our intuitions meet. As a reader, I use my intuition to tell you what messages I see in the cards. As a client, you use your intuition to decide how this ties into your life.
Just like in the point above, the goal here isn’t to find out your future. It’s to help you better understand how you can create the life you want to create. You can also gain clarity and insights about any given situation.
I’ve also found tarot to be incredibly helpful in creating a life that’s in line with my highly sensitive needs.
You can then take the information from your tarot reading and apply it to your life however your intuition tells you to. You are never bound by anything that comes up in a tarot reading. If your intuition tells you something is not right for you right now, it’s like leave a message that will be more relevant in the future.
As a whole, the experience will help you heighten and enhance your intuition and allow you to tap into one of the best parts of your highly sensitive self.
