I can tell you from personal experience, that living a soul-aligned life is the best way to be.
How can you tell when your life isn’t aligned with your soul? Simply put, life doesn’t feel good.
You may be stressed, anxious, exhausted, drained, burned out, or any thing similar or a regular basis.
This could me in some areas of your life, or your life as a whole.
But even though living a life out of alignment isn’t enjoyable, starting a soul-aligned journey isn’t always easy. Often times, it means breaking away from the systems and lifestyles that society considers “normal.”
It might mean taking a risk and starting your own business, pursing a career as a creator, opting out of kids, owning an LGBTQ+ identity (if and when you’re ready), or anything else that isn’t considered “the norm.”

Here are 5 amazing ways your life changes when you start living a soul-aligned life.
Your happiness improves
I feel like this one is pretty straightforward, but the benefits are so big it’s definitely worth discussing.
When you start to live a more soul-aligned life, your happiness improves. You chose careers that make you feel happy, excited, and helpful. Instead of ones that make you feel exhaustion, anxiety, and dread.
You nurture relationships that fill you up, and prioritize the people you genuinely look forward to seeing.
You fill your time with activities that relax, empower, and soothe you.
On the whole, you make choices for yourself and for your life that truly make you feel alive.
This doesn’t mean you’ll never have problems or feel more negative emotions. But it does mean you’ll find happiness and positive emotions on a more regular basis.
Your nervous system calms
Constant tension, stress, anxiety, doubt, fear, etc are often signs that you’re not living a soul-aligned life.
Of course, anxiety, panic, etc, and be signs of some more serious mental health concerns. But that’s not what we’re talking about here.
Like I mentioned in this The Power of Your Anxiety post, I believe we have the capacity for a healthy amount of anxiety and stress.
Because ultimately, I believe our emotions are are trying to tell us something. Constant stress and anxiety often tell us when something in our life is not for us.
For instance, if you find yourself always anxious about going to work, there’s a good sign your job or workplace are not aligned with you.
When you make the choice to remove yourself from situations that make you anxious and stressed, in favor of more aligned choices, you nervous system starts to calm.
This can help create a greater sense of peace and safety.
Your health improves
Like we talked about in the last point, tension, stress, and anxiety are pretty common in people who aren’t living soul-aligned lives. And that tension, stress, and anxiety can have very real physical side effects.
You may be too anxious or busy to eat a full meal. Or you may be to stressed to bother with a healthy meal and stress-eat through your day.
You may be too rundown and tired to exercise. You may also be working too hard and too long to have time for a full-night’s rest.
When you start to live a soul-aligned life, you naturally have more time and energy to take better care of yourself.
Additionally, the mental shift that comes with prioritizing what you and your soul needs, makes it even easier to prioritize what your physical body needs.
Personal side note: This was one of the biggest surprises that came when I started living a more soul-aligned life.
I used to be very unhealthy, and it showed. But I didn’t have the time or energy to do anything about it. The more I soul-aligned choices I made, the more time and energy became available to me. I found I wanted to exercise, get enough sleep, and eat healthier.
And to make things even more shocking, it actually wasn’t a challenge. I did it one choice and change at a time, and now my health is as enjoyable and sustainable as my life.
You respond to stressful situations better
Like we touched on earlier, just because you’re living a more aligned life doesn’t mean you’ll never again feel stress, anxiety, etc.
But the difference is, when you do, you often navigate the experience much better than you would have in the past.
This is because when you’re more rested, energetic, and you’re operating from a calm and stable nervous system, you naturally able to think clearer.
Additionally, part of the natural journey to building a soul-aligned life includes getting more in touch with yourself and your intuition.
This means that when these stressful situations pop up, it’s much easier for you to push pause and check in with yourself. From there, you’re able to make the best possible decision that can be made in the moment.
Exactly how calm you’ll be under pressure is going to vary, but I have no doubts you’ll be calmer living a soul-aligned life than you would be otherwise.
Your quality of life improves
The more you get in touch with your soul and make soul-aligned choices, the more your quality of life will improve.
If it doesn’t, you’re probably not making the soul-aligned choices you think you are (the next point can help with that!)
Part of aligning your life with your soul means you’re better tuned into yourself and what you need, and what feels good for you in any given moment. This helps you get practiced at honoring these needs.
Part of making soul-aligned choices is saying “no” to the things that don’t feel good to you. And saying “yes” to the things that do.
This naturally improves your quality of life. You spend more time and energy doing the things you enjoy, and less doing the things that suck you dry.
Making soul-aligned choices is also about taking the risks that really call out to you, no matter how “crazy” they may be. This helps you grow. Your brain is wired to protect you. This isn’t a bad thing–we need that sometimes!
But if it were truly up to your brain, you’d likely never leave the safety of your comfort zone.
Growth helps us improve. It helps us become better people and build better lives for ourselves. And I believe true growth happens when we listen to our souls, first and foremost.
